Hello my name is Harley Davidson.   You can hear my VAROOM when I am playing and greeting my NEW owners.  I am 5 years old, love to play with toys and have lots of energy.  I know how to use the doggie door, so you don't have to keep opening the door for me.  Boy do I strut my stuff when I walk...I walk proud and mighty....of course, I do pull a little.  I have such a happy disposition unless one of those evil beings called a cat comes around then my davidson comes out.  .   I love older children and adults, those younger ones give me too much competition and it wouldn't be fair to them when I receive all the loving.  If you need a fun loving Harley Davidson come and get me!!!!! $100 Rehoming Fee.

Daisy is 8-9 yrs old spayed female. She likes to sleep most of the time but also walks.  Also she likes to play with other dogs and is very good with kids.  From time to time usually once a day she gets a bit of energy and runs around like crazy, it's pretty funny.  She shows you more love than you can handle at times, a good companion. We hate to lose her but don't have the time she needs to give the care and attention she needs.  Please contact Andy & Holly if you can give Daisy a loving home.

LIZ

Liz is a tri-color female basset hound.  She is spayed, is current on shots, heartworm medicine and flea protection.  She weighs approximately 55 - 56 pounds and is just about perfect weight, or maybe just a tad heavy for her frame.  She eats light food.  Liz is housebroken and we have generally left her uncrated in the house while we are not at home with no problems related to destroying the house.  We adopted Liz from an out-of-state rescue almost two years ago.  We do not know how old she is as she came into rescue as a stray.  It has been estimated that she is at least five years old.  It has become clear over the time that we have had her that she needs to be an only dog.  She is very alpha-female and despite all of our efforts, she is not willing to share her people with other dogs, which is making life in our home very difficult for our two other bassets that were in our home before Liz arrived.  She loves her people and is very affectionate with us and all people who have been in our house.  Loves cuddling and belly rubs, doesn't mind the cat, attends doggie daycare once per week with no problems, walks well on a leash.  She has not been around small children during her time with us so I don't know how she would be around them.  What she does not like is other dogs living in her space.  We believe she would make a wonderful, loving companion for someone who plans to have only her.  At sometime in her past, she had a nasty break in her front leg that was never repaired.  It does not look good, but she takes Deramax daily and seems to get along perfectly fine with it.  We are asking a $75 re-homing fee and will provide her vet records to her adopter.  If interested in meeting Liz, please call Alicia at 740-272-2459.

What are Owner Relinquish Dogs?

Owner relinquish dogs are pets that their current owners no longer feel that they can care for their pet in a manner that a responsible pet care-taker should. The reasons these owners give up their pets vary, from allergies, illness, divorce, new work demands, or poor family planning to name a few. OBR encourages owners to consider their pet’s needs before making major life choices that can be traumatic for their pet.

Basset Hounds in particular, are very devoted creatures to their owners and being transplanted to a new family creates confusion and causes feelings of insecurity, which can lead to the dog to start bad behavior. This often causes stress on the dog and its new family.

Ohio Basset Rescue offers a posting service on our web-site to assist these owners in placing their pet and these listings are an effort to help as many dogs as possible. OBR is not a “dumping ground” for unwanted pets and cannot afford the fiscal and emotional expenses of accepting these animals.

A majority of the hounds that we place are strays, abandoned, or are from Animal Humane Societies. Fostering, Caring, and Placing these hounds are the focus of OBR’s efforts.

Ohio Basset Hound Rescue is not responsible for, not can OBR confirm the temperament/health of the dogs listed as “Owner relinquish” dogs.

All postings remain in our Owner-Relinquish list for approximately 90 days at which point the person listed as the contact is responsible for contacting OBR to continue to have the information listed for another 90 day period if needed.

If you need to relinquish your dog to OBR please contact Sue Webb at webbsusanm@msn.com
