This is “Lola”. She is a 7 yr. old female basset hound - born 8/14/2003. We acquired her as a puppy at 10 wks of age from a local breeder. Her parents are both AKC registered basset hounds. We did not register “Lola” as we wanted her for a family pet – not breeding or show purposes so we did not feel the registration was necessary. She is spayed & current on all vaccinations, heartworm testing & preventive. She has always been a healthy dog and well taken care of as I (her current owner) work for
veterinary clinic. She is having some dental issues right now, but I am in the process of treating her for the problem and her oral health should be back on track very soon.
She has been a loving & devoted member of our family for the past 7 years, but unfortunately our family has grown recently (we have 2 little girls – both under the age of 3) and she is not adjusting well to having 2 little children in the home. Lola has always had a bit of anxiety, nervousness…especially when dealing w/ change in the household. As you can imagine adding two little girls to our family in the past 2 ½ years has definitely heightened this behavior. We did have an incident this past November where Lola did nip at my 2 ½ yr old daughter. I have been trying since that time to help her w/ her anxiety. Working for a veterinarian, I have had the good fortune of having their professional help readily available when needed for Lola. We have tried different behavioral techniques as well as medication. Some days have been better than others as far as showing improvement, but I have recently had another baby (another girl born this past March) and since this time she has taken a downward spiral…definitely requiring more time & attention than I am able to give her now. Lola is a very good dog who has nothing but love to give.
I would like to be able to find her a good home, preferably one w/out children under the age of 10. She is used to older children. My son & step-son were almost 11 & 10 yrs old when we brought her home and she has been great w/ them. She is not food or toy aggressive. Lola is also good around other dogs, as we have 3 other dogs in addition to her. We have 2 other basset hounds and a beagle. We are also trying to place my male basset hound Flash in a new home as well. He is having a lot of the same issues as Lola. A separate bio for him is available. I hope that there is someone or some family out there whose home will be a better fit for Lola and/or Flash. I am asking for an adoption fee of $50.00 for her - $75.00 for both dogs.
