This is “Flash”. He is a 6 yr. old male basset hound – born 7/10/2004. We acquired him as a puppy at 8 wks of age from a local breeder. Flash & Lola (female basset hound also available for adoption) are cousins. Their mothers are sisters. Flash’s parents are also AKC registered basset hounds. Again, we did not register Flash as we wanted him for a family pet – not breeding or show purposes. He is neutered & current on all vaccinations, heartworm testing & preventive. Again, working for a veterinary clinic, Flash has always had good care. He has also been a healthy dog. I’ve had some ear issues (infections) w/ him, but he has always been treated appropriately. He also had an exploratory abdominal surgery almost 1 yr ago. He has had a history of eating yard debris (i.e. sticks, mulch, grass/weeds & occasional dog poo). This caused him to have some bowel issues. He has made a full recovery from this surgery & no additional problems w/ this to date.
Again, Flash like Lola has been a loving & devoted member of our family for the past 6 years. He is also displaying a lot of the same anxiety/nervous behaviors as my female basset hound when it comes to having 2 little children in the house now. He was never the “nervous type” until my first daughter was born 2 ½ yrs ago. It seems as if he is feeding off of Lola’s behavior. Fortunately we have not had any nipping incidents w/ him. He is displaying a lot of his anxiety in the way of excessive barking. He also is not adjusting well to the changes that have taken place in out household. Since the arrival of our second daughter this past March, our house has been very stressful & chaotic for all involved. Our home is not ideal for Flash or Lola at this point. They definitely need & deserve more time & attention than we are able to give. Flash is also a very good dog.
I would like to find a home for Flash more suited for him; again, one w/out children under the age of 10. He is very good w/ older children & other dogs. He is not food or toy aggressive. Flash can be a “counter cruiser” and “sock scavenger” if given the opportunity. I hope that there is someone or some family out there whose home will be a better fit for Flash and/or Lola. I am asking for an adoption fee of $50.00 for him - $75.00 for both dogs. If interested please contact me – Beth Miller @
